We’ve had a relatively mild week of weather which was good for the busiest tourist week of the year in Nimbin, though the tiny village barely gets half the traffic it got a decade ago. Byron’s upmarket these days and the backpackers have moved on. We used to get several buses a day visit from the coast, now maybe a couple a week.
The story below from ‘High Times’ shows how hard it was to get sober President Trump to move on reclassifying weed. During the signing ceremony he said he’d been hassled about changing the cannabis laws more than anything else and he couldn’t ignore public opinion anymore.
Really it looks like it will be great for the business people more than the general public, but I do acknowledge it opens the doors for research and formally agrees, finally, the hippies were right, it is a medicine after all. What were we wrong about?!
We have a sober Premier in NSW also and he may use Bondi as his excuse for not following through on his promises to us cannabis users, but it’s no excuse for me, and if we don’t get an answer from his “expert committee” on RDT soon we might have to visit Sydney for a smoke in! Or is that now a banned protest?
I’ve wanted to hang a steering wheel on that very nice old cast iron Parliament House fence for every person who lost their licence last year in NSW for the mere presence of cannabis in their saliva. Nothing to do with being an impaired driver. That fence couldn’t fit them all and of course, that’s illegal too, no doubt.
The news on cannabis being good for your brain just keeps on coming. How about the data analysis from the UK Biobank examining 500,000 adults aged between 40 and 70 and the weed users had larger brain volumes in areas rich in cannabinoid receptors?!
More analysis from Canada shows there is no increase in use amongst their youth but a trend to vape and eat weed more and smoke less. Each generation, smarter than the last, otherwise we wouldn’t be evolving, right?
