Marty de Weerd is a Nimbin based visual artist and tutor who specialises in landscapes, seascapes and abstract paintings using acrylic paints. Marty’s work primarily depicts nature in its rawest forms- untouched and wild.
Marty was the winner of the Margaret McLaren Prize for Emerging Artists at the 2023 Nimbin Art Fair for his painting “Nightcap”, Highly Commended in the Australian Landscape section at the 2024 Bentley Art Prize for the painting “Below the Falls” and the winner of the People’s Choice Award at the 2024 Nimbin School of Arts Spring Exhibition for “The Spirit of Anderson Road”.
