Dam Free Nimbin Community Meeting

The CSIRO has released a plan to mitigate flooding to Lismore and downstream by building ten (10) retention dams in the Richmond River catchment — including a dam with a 30‑metre‑high wall near the Nimbin Rocks. There has been no consultation in Nimbin, despite severe consequences for our village.

Concerned community members have formed a working group to inform the community of the impacts to Nimbin and to work at having this proposal scrapped. Two public meetings are being held — come along to find out more and have your say.

“Reducing flood impacts downstream by intentionally reversing their impacts upstream is a profound ethical, environmental and community issue that deserves far greater scrutiny and real consultation.”
